Lt. Col Richard Chaloner Cobbe married
Mary Godolphin here, 23rd November 1726

Their granddaughter
Charlotte (Godolphin) Cobbe married Robert Clay
at St. George's, Hanover Square Jan 1816
Their only child, a son, Robert Richard Clay,
who qualified at Westminster Hospital,
started the country medical practice in
Fovant, Wilts., c1855 which lasted for
three generations.
He was followed by his son Challoner Clay
who died in 1916 and then by his grandson
Richard Chaloner Cobbe Clay
who died 27th February 1971 aged 80 years

The writer/webmaster's wife is
great granddaughter of Robert Richard Clay's
son Charles Robert Clay,
Farmer, Veterinery & First Licensee of
the Springhead Hotel, Sutton Poyntz,
Weymouth, Dorset
