The Cobbes

Richard Chaloner Cobbes (1), (2), (3) & (4)

It was here on 15th January 1746/1747 that Sarah Oldershaw married Marshall Greswald
At that time, when April was the "first" month of the year, both years are noted when giving the month
the entry in the Parish Register reads:

Marshall Grissel Esq. & Sarah Oldershaw Jan y  15 1746/47

As noted elsewhere, one wonders at the spelling of the Grissel surname. It seems that Grissel is a bone fide version of Greswold or Greswald

Following Marshall's death, Sarah Oldershaw married Rev James Burslem. Her son Humphrey Greswold survived to the age of about 9 years.
After Sarah died, James, it seems, "acquired" a number of Parishes and whilst at Wisbech,
he became Rev Dr James Burslem DD JP., giving his Doctoral Sermon at Great St. Mary, Cambridge in 1782
