MI Whitefield Chapel

So far there is no image of the Whitefield Chapel Monument and Inscription. The above faithfully mimics that given by Cansick. Please note that f = s, Decr = December.

Maria's death date is not given,so,was she the daughter who returned from Nova Scotia aboard HMS Chichester, a store ship in 1803? Further research of naval papers at Kew may give the answer. Fire destroyed the chapel in 1890 so, baby WIlloughy was transferred with others to a communal grave at Chingford Mount Cemetery, East London. Possibly, Samuel and Maria may have always been buried elsewhere. Careful search of the Burial Register revealed only baby Willoughby, buried 21 December 1783. However, a Register entry confirms mislaid entries; for five years or so to May 1796. Help!!
